These regulations of 14 September 2011 take effect on 1 October 2011. Concerning the course of the PhD as described in art. 8, there are some transition modalities:

PhD researchers who start their PhD after 30 September 2011 follow the course of the PhD as described in art. 8 of the regulations of 14 Sept. 2011.

PhD researchers who started their PhD between 1 January 2011 and 1 October 2011 can choose to follow the course of the PhD as described in either the regulations of 6 April 2011 (NL or ENG) or the regulations of 14 Sept. 2011, but are recommended to follow the new regulations.

PhD researchers who have already submitted forms in the 'old' system, remain in this system with regard to the course of the PhD as described in art.8 of the regulations of 6 April 2011 (NL or ENG).
